This is certainly worth a buck! You may not always be within range of a cell phone signal, but youre almost always visible to GPS. As a soldier with an iPhone, this application gives me an easy way to find my 10 digit grid coordinate anywhere I am in the world. I hit the "present location" button, then "convert". The bottom of the list has the map designator (two letters) and grid coordinates to the meter (10 digit- but watch the accuracy since commercial GPS is usually only good to 30 meters). As a plus, theres a button to verify my location on Google maps (when theres an Internet or cell connection).
I may not always have a DAGR or PLUGR (military GPS), but Ive always got my iPhone in my pocket. Now Ive always got my grid coordinates, degree of precision, and elevation. iPhones in Iraq and Afghanastan? This apps for you!
Worked great, got me out of a few jams where I was given dd m.m and needed pure decimal degrees for my iPhone. Cant vouche for the other formats, but the ones I used worked just fine.
The most recent updates have restored lost functionality and fixed bugs that caused the app to crash. It works great and is worth the money!
Some bad moments
It was a great app but is crashing bad on my iPhone 6 Plus, I use this everyday & need it working!
Cute, but I tried calculating West instead of East and it gave me the same results. There are a lot of other conversions that could be done including UTM and, the one Im really looking for, TRS (Township, Range and Section).
Does not locate on the map correctly. It always shows the same location, regardless of input. Opening in Maps does ot work either.
Good start, and free it may be, but it needs more of the commonly used formats, MGRS, USNG, UTM, OSNG, etc.
This application has some promise but it does not work yet. I could not get it to show the same location on google maps as what google maps shows, some some accuracy issues, it also is very SLOW and returns incorrect UTM coordinates. I keep getting south UTM zones while I am in the northern hemisphere. Still needs work and should be free until it is working.
Poor UI, I cant find ANY maps; the developers web site is a useless page with the company name and nothing more.
The UI needs significant improvement and there needs to be a user guide (part of the app or web based).
